Heads Series (2022-23)

Apolo's interest in heads or masks as subject spanned various materials and styles. The first of this series was The Thinking Head (2022), which served as one of the inspirations for the entire Motor Chain Series. From the 2D work, he ventured into his first 3D heads: the Tin Man (2022), Englishman in New York (2022) and White Walker (2023), all rendered using a combination of junk metal pieces.

In 2023, he dabbled in mixed media sculptures, using cement, plaster of paris, clay, fabric and metal. This experiment resulted in two heads, Apollo (2023) and The Passion of Christ (2023). The latter then served as inspiration for a full body rendition of Jesus Christ in forged copper.

Junk art depicting the character in the Wizard of Oz. The artist put together seemingly cold and inanimate materials to magically conjure the thoughtfulness and sadness of The Tin Man.

The Greek god and artist's namesake, save for the additional "L." This is a piece made of mixed media: metal, plastic and plaster, and is meant to be a model for a full-metal version. Available for commission using forged semi-precious metals.
