The Chain Series (2022)

Apolo Tirol's Chain Series (2022) is his first venture into  junk art. In 2022, after doing the rounds of his go-to junk shops, he realized that one of the most plentiful throw-away materials is the motor chain. Motorcycles are the most popular means of private transportation in the Philippines, and their natural wear and tear bring in loads of unwanted motor chains. Apolo puts together other junk materials, such as brake discs, wrench handles, drill brits, and electric fan covers to come up with representations of his favorite animals. The Chain Series opens a door into a world of imaginative, physical and spiritual transformation  and possibilities.
